How to Get More Clients as a New Real Estate Agent

How to Get More Clients as a New Real Estate Agent

Generating business in any industry is about winning the battle against anonymity. If people don’t know about you, they can’t become a client. That's why the best agents have spent years developing their networks and likely tens of thousands of dollars on marketing for properties over their careers. We’re here to give you some tips that will help you shave months off of the learning curve and generate more business without breaking the bank.

Pro Tip #1: one of the best books we’ve ever read on building a business is $100M Leads by Alex Hormozi. A lot of the strategies and tactics we use are straight from his playbook – go buy it as quickly as possible.

1.  Choosing the Right Broker

Especially as a new agent, you need to choose a broker who provides a structured program. You need training programs, you need weekly seminars and meetings with agents, you need contacts to trustworthy vendors (ex: mortgage & title companies). All of these things will take you more time and yield worse results if you try to do them yourself.

Our favorite brokerage is Your Home Sold Guaranteed Realty. While most brokers make the standard, bland comments about how “customer focused” they are, Rudy and his teams are the gold standard for how a brokerage should operate. They have a unique value proposition that actually adds a lot of value to you as an agent and to your customers

(Pro Tip #2: $100M Offers is another book by Alex Hormozi that explains what a truly unique value proposition is. If a brokerage can’t offer you something unique, say NEXT! like an MTV show). Many of YHSGR agents are making $1MM+ annually.

2.  Using Your Existing Network

Even as a new agent, you have connections that you’ve built over time that you can use! Whether it’s old high school friends or parents from daycare groups and little league teams, reaching out to those people to let them know you’re available is a great way to start getting known as an agent.

Offer your friends and family a free competitive analysis on their house, help them understand what’s going on with interest rates, or put them in contact with a mortgage company so they can get pre-qualified. 92% of consumers turn to people they know for referrals above any other source, so make yourself known!

3.  Building an Online Brand

While it may seem tedious, building an online presence is one of the best ways to help you start building your network. This also goes hand-in-hand with tapping into your existing network.

74% of consumers rely on social media to inform their purchasing decisions – that means people are more likely to become a client if they regularly see content from you. A great way to start doing this is by re-posting information from your broker that helps would-be buyers and sellers understand the process.

4.  Sponsorships & Partnerships

Good real estate agents are doing dozens of transactions a year. As a result, they have made lots of connections with buyers, sellers, and other real estate service companies (like mortgage and insurance companies).

The best agents are dedicating hours of time to social media marketing, joining local real estate groups like an association of realtors to meet referral sources, and participating in referral programs with their preferred partners.

5.  Paid Marketing

Real estate agents will frequently advertise themselves directly to customers using paid social media ads (or even a specific property, if the property’s value is high enough). Spending money on ads can be hard to justify, so do some research on the best ways to maximize social media ads.

Another often overlooked piece of marketing is the for sale sign outside a home. Depending on the location, a property could have hundreds of cars driving by on any given day. Thus, having a company like Install Now install a high-quality for sale sign and post in front of a listing can be a great way to get sellers to engage with an agent by prominently displaying their picture and contact info. If you would like us to take care of installing your real estate for sale sign, don’t wait any longer, give us a call today
